In-Season Salmon Management Teleconferences extended

The 2020 fishing season has been one for the records and not coming from a positive perspective. On top of the looming COVID-19 Pandemic that has now reached Alaska rural communities we have seen record low numbers of salmon entering the Yukon River.

YRDFA requested extra funding from the US Department of Interior’s Office of Subsistence Management to extend the Yukon River In-Season Salmon Management Teleconferences for two more weeks and to host monthly Yukon River Off-Season Teleconferences for the months of October, November, January and February.

YRDFA overall mission is to provide communication between all user groups; subsistence, commercial, personal use, sport, and the management agencies to include all State, Federal and Tribal Governments that have jurisdiction over any activity that affect the fish stocks of the Yukon River Drainage whether it be direct or indirect. YRDFA feels this is more important now than ever.
