POSITION: Grant Specialist
LOCATION: Hybrid/remote in Alaska
STATUS: Full-time
SALARY: $50,000
Position Summary
We are seeking a Grant Specialist to join our team. The position will be responsible to plan and write grant proposals to federal, state, and local agencies, as well as foundations and philanthropies. Responsible for the overall planning, coordination, and development of grant proposals to ensure submission prior to deadlines. Examine or analyze grant records or reports to assess accuracy, completeness, or conformance to reporting and procedural standards. Duties and Responsibilities
- Leads the implementation of and ensures adherence to grantmaking workflow process and procedures
- Participates on strategy teams and supports staff in developing grant applications
- Manages administration of the grant cycle from application to closing; ensures that grant requirements are met and payments are appropriate.
- Works closely with staff to review applicant and grantee financial reports to perform grant due-diligence procedures and identify potential concerns
- Maintain grant records and ensure IRS compliance
- Develop and maintain a grants operations manual including contact information and software
- Maintains a confidential stance in regard to foundation and grantee activities
- Carries out such other duties as shall be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications
- Extensive familiarity with grants management with accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of and understanding of financial statements of nonprofit organizations, and has performed financial due diligence reviews of grantees.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to approach people with tact and empathy.
- Familiarity with state, federal, and foundation grants.
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects while meeting deadlines.
- Prior experience working with Alaska Native people
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training and experience in business, accounting, communications, or creative and professional writing.
