SUMMARY:Salmonfest: August 3-5\, 2018
DESCRIPTION:Salmonfest has become widely recognized both nationally and within the state as the most compelling and dynamic event in Alaska.  Every year over 8\,000 people turn the Kenai Peninsula village of Ninilchik into a city as families and friends fill the region with encampments full of music\, food\, fish and love.  Over the three day weekend many of Alaska’s top food\, crafts\, art and brews are available throughout the grounds and a family friendly atmosphere\, including a daily children’s program is part of the four stage extravaganza that includes over 50 acts. \nWith Salmonfest\, we wish to emphasize and celebrate the connection of all Alaskans to the fish and the waters that provide this magnificent resource. We urge everyone from all over the state\, and entire country\, to come together for this Salmonfest weekend\, and find camaraderie in the issues that unite us and put aside the things that divide us. Together let’s continue to move forward and celebrate wild Alaska in a weekend of Fish\, Love and Music! \nSalmonfest is supported by and benefits The Kachemak Bay Conservation Society. KBCS is a longstanding Homer-based non profit organization that seek to educate the public\, and both protect and promote Alaska’s fish-filled waters.

SUMMARY:Pacific Fisheries Technologists Conference
DESCRIPTION:The 69th Pacific Fisheries Technologists’ (PFT) conference will be held February 5-7th 2018 in Girdwood\, Alaska at the Alyeska Resort\, 40 miles outside of Anchorage\, Alaska. The resort is tucked amid the Chugach Mountains on Alaska’s southcentral coast\, near three national parks and the Kenai Peninsula. We will also discuss how the regulatory environment adapts with the innovation and growth of our trade. \nThe PFT conference is an annual international event that moves between the Pacific States and Provinces of Mexico\, USA and Canada. We are always thrilled to welcome a sizable contingent from Asia\, Europe and elsewhere and have a reputation for being a friendly\, welcoming group where old acquaintances are renewed and many new ones made. Whether you work in academia\, government\, seafood industry\, supporting industries\, are a student or merely interested in fish – plan to come to PFT for 4 days of networking and fun. \nStay tuned for announcements on speaking and sponsorship opportunities\, and to see updates to the conference program as it develops. \nChris Sannito\nPFT President\, 2018
